The Detroit Lions have decided not to tender a contract to restricted free agent Tyrus Wheat, making him an unrestricted free agent at the start of the new league year. Wheat, 26, joined the Lions last August after being claimed off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys. During his time with Detroit in 2022, he played in 15 games, recording 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Wheat entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and has played a total of 35 games for both Dallas and Detroit.
