Redwood Materials is repurposing old EV batteries into energy storage systems, offering a more cost-effective alternative to new projects, through its new division, Redwood Energy. The company, founded by Tesla’s former chief technologist, estimates it receives over 20 GWh of batteries annually, aiming to convert usable batteries into modular storage systems to support energy grid needs.
