Record numbers face acute or emergency hunger

The UN-partnered IPC platform has classified 3.9 million people in DRC as facing “emergency” levels of hunger, with an additional 23.8 million enduring “crisis” levels. Conflict in the eastern provinces has exacerbated the situation, leading to acute food insecurity for 2.5 million people, with the WFP and FAO urgently calling for $399 million in funding to prevent a full-scale catastrophe.
