The total lunar eclipse, also known as the “blood moon,” occurred in March, with the moon turning reddish-orange for about an hour starting at 1:26 a.m. CT Friday. The next opportunity to see a total lunar eclipse will be on Sept. 7, sweeping across parts of Asia, Africa, Australia, and Europe, with the Americas getting their next chance in March 2026. Lunar eclipses happen when the moon, Earth, and sun align, casting a shadow that can partially or totally blot out the moon, creating the striking visual of a “Blood Moon.”
