The Gauteng government is implementing measures to help spaza shop owners re-register their businesses within a 21-day deadline set by President Ramaphosa to regulate the informal sector. The plan includes aligning with proposed interventions and addressing compliance issues such as licensing, permits, health conditions, and building control. Municipalities will deploy inspectors to ensure compliance with zoning regulations, and operators must meet various requirements for successful registration, including providing personal and business details, proof of ownership or permission for business premises, and payment of determined fees.
