A rare corpse flower, known as ‘Smellanie’, is blooming at the Adelaide Botanic Garden after a 20-year conservation effort. This endangered Titan Arum, native to Sumatra, emits a smell resembling rotting flesh to attract pollinators and can grow up to three meters tall. Visitors have a limited time to experience its pungent aroma, which peaks within 24 hours. This marks the second bloom for Smellanie since 2021, following the propagation of around 250 plants from original seeds.
