Brits consulted on the design of new digital ID system

The UK government has relaunched its digital ID initiative, allowing a randomly selected panel of 100 citizens to help determine its features. Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister Darren Jones presented an early version of the app, which aims to streamline access to public services. The scheme, estimated to cost £1.8 billion over three years, will initially require minimal personal data and is designed to be voluntary. The digital ID may eventually include functionalities like age verification and integration with digital driving licenses.
