Offseason workouts for the Las Vegas Raiders commenced three weeks ago, but the intensity is set to increase with the arrival of the draft class and undrafted free agents. The team’s rookie minicamp is scheduled for May 1-3, where newly drafted players, first-year players, and camp invitees will compete for roster spots. Following the minicamp, Organized Team Activities (OTAs) will take place over three weeks, featuring ten voluntary practices on May 18, May 20-21, May 26, May 28-29, and June 1-4. The offseason will culminate in a mandatory minicamp from June 9-11, which will resemble the early days of training camp. After the minicamp, the Raiders will take a break for about five weeks before starting training camp in late July.

Why It Matters

The Raiders’ offseason activities are crucial for evaluating new talent and ensuring team cohesion ahead of the upcoming season. The rookie minicamp and OTAs provide opportunities for both drafted and undrafted players to showcase their skills and secure their positions on the roster. Historically, the effectiveness of these offseason programs can significantly impact a team’s performance in the regular season, as many successful NFL teams utilize these practices to build chemistry and develop strategies. The transition from offseason workouts to training camp marks an important phase in a team’s preparation, as it sets the foundation for the competitive dynamics of the upcoming NFL season.
