Authorities have promised action following the Auckland Anniversary storms two years ago, but residents remain fearful of future flooding. Harish Lodhia’s son took it upon himself to clear debris from a creek behind their Mt Roskill industrial property, recalling the chaos when the creek overflowed, causing significant damage during the last storm. The area was heavily impacted, with dozens of homes flooded after 110mm of rain, particularly in known risk zones, highlighting ongoing concerns about preparedness and response to severe weather events.
