A prison officer at Christchurch Men’s Prison was attacked by inmate Edward Davis, 38, after Davis was frustrated over not being able to contact his pregnant partner. Davis received a sentence of one year and ten months for the assault, during which he expressed remorse and offered an apology to the victim, indicating a desire to reconcile.
