A patched gang member, Anaru Tukere, was caught with 36 grams of meth in his car’s glovebox, claiming he was selling it to “make fast money” for his kids. The judge criticized Tukere’s excuse and highlighted the irony of the Ngāruawāhia-based Tribal Huk gang’s stance against meth, despite his involvement. Tukere was a passenger in a vehicle stopped by police for speeding, who discovered meth, cash, scales, and bags during the search.
