Ryman Healthcare Affected by $237 Million Holiday Pay Issue

New Zealand’s largest listed retirement village company, Ryman Healthcare, is among several businesses facing significant holiday pay issues, underpaying 227,300 employees a total of $237 million. A company spokesperson acknowledged the problem, revealing a provisional $24 million set aside for Holidays Act remediation. Jeanie Borsboom from the Labour Inspectorate noted that Ryman’s non-compliance is part of a broader systemic issue uncovered during investigations from November 2015 to June 2020. The state crackdown has highlighted widespread failures in adhering to the Holidays Act across various companies.
