The Horse and Jockey pub in Tideswell, Derbyshire, has been ordered to pay £75,000 in damages to the McGirr family, who were falsely accused of not paying their £150 bill. The pub made a public post claiming the family had dined and dashed, sharing CCTV images and prompting press coverage, but it was revealed that a staff member had mistakenly taken their card payment without processing it through the till. The pub later admitted the error, apologized, and stated that there was no dishonesty involved, attributing the mistake to an inexperienced employee.
