Domitina Kahira, a resident of Biharamulo District in Tanzania, lost her husband to Marburg virus disease in January 2025 and faced mental health challenges post-recovery. WHO, in collaboration with other organizations, provided counselling and psychosocial support to Kahira and others affected by the outbreak, helping them cope with grief, stress, and stigma. Kahira received assistance in reuniting with her family, reintegrating into the community, and rebuilding resilience, showcasing the importance of mental health services in emergencies for socio-economic recovery.
