Private security firm to patrol Chinatown in pilot project to address crime

The city of Montreal has launched a pilot project hiring private security guards from Sirco to patrol Chinatown, the Village, and Old Montreal for two months. The guards, in vehicles and on foot, are strictly observing and reporting without intervening in any incidents. Phil Chu of the Association of Residents of Chinatown emphasized the guards’ role as a support to police in addressing crime in the area.
