Melissa Murphy, a former tutor at HMP Chelmsford, engaged in an inappropriate relationship with an inmate, discovered when staff found a locked classroom with her keys removed. Following an investigation, police found letters and a photo of the inmate in her home. Arrested in December 2023 and later charged with misconduct, she pleaded guilty in November 2025.
