Police Investigate Student Scam to Cover £140,000 Fees

Two international students, Li Liu (26) and Wanqing Yu (25), were jailed for a £140,000 train refund scam, claiming compensation for delayed trains they never took. Their fraudulent activities, which included using fake identities and disposable email accounts, lasted from October 2021 until February 2023, leading to sentences of 2.5 years and 17 weeks respectively after being caught by British Transport Police.
