Police clash with students in Turin as anti-government rallies draw support across Italy

In Turin, clashes between police officers and students protesting against Italy’s far-right government led to 15 officers being hospitalized after exposure to fumes from an explosive device. Organized as “No Meloni Day” in multiple cities, the protests were against the policies of the Meloni government, particularly in education, with some demonstrations also opposing arms sales to Israel and supporting Gaza. In response to the violence, Giorgia Meloni condemned the actions of the protesters and called for politicians to unite in condemning the violence, expressing solidarity with the injured officers.
