Police warn of burglary tactic used to check if homes are empty over half-term

Police in the Bickley and Sundridge area of London have warned residents of a burglary technique where suspects leave dirt or items on doorsteps to determine if the occupants are away. The Metropolitan Police have reported several recent burglaries, with suspects targeting homes during the half-term holidays. Neighbourhood Watch groups have issued warnings after a man was caught on CCTV breaking into multiple homes in broad daylight.
