About a decade ago, microdosing—taking small amounts of psychedelic drugs like psilocybin or LSD—gained attention for its purported benefits on mood and energy, with many claiming it alleviated depression. However, a recent Phase 2B trial by MindBio Therapeutics involving 89 adults found that microdosing LSD was less effective than a placebo in treating major depressive disorder. Symptoms were assessed using the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale over eight weeks. This study suggests that the advantages of microdosing may be significantly overstated.
