Pitt has lost a top WPIAL target, Lucas Shanafelt, who committed to Stanford, removing him from the 2026 recruiting class. The 6-foot-4, 235-pound three-star tight end from Peters Township was heavily recruited by Pitt, which was the first Power Four school to offer him and where he frequently visited over the past months. Despite Shanafelt’s commitment, Pitt continues to pursue other tight end prospects, with official visits scheduled for Adam Land, Javonte Williams, Zachery Turner, and other WPIAL recruits in early June.
