Members of the Canadian Armed Forces have arrived in Pimicikamak Cree Nation, Manitoba, to assist with critical water issues following a severe power outage that caused extensive damage, including frozen water systems and burst pipes. Chief David Monias reported that military personnel are assessing a damaged water treatment plant and providing technical support for recovery efforts, with plans for additional crews arriving soon. Approximately 4,400 residents have been displaced, while the remaining 2,000 are facing significant property damage, necessitating urgent repairs. Community leaders are also seeking long-term solutions to prevent future crises and are addressing the emotional strain on displaced residents.
