The chief of Pimicikamak Cree Nation reports that a severe power outage has led to extensive damage in the community, with around 200 homes rendered unsafe and about 4,000 residents evacuated. The power outage, caused by a snapped power line and extreme cold, resulted in burst pipes and plumbing failures. Chief David Monias estimates repair costs at $44 million and has called for assistance from plumbers, engineers, and the Canadian Armed Forces.
