C12 believed Menezes was a threat and felt he had to take the shot to prevent a possible explosion. The former officer described the traumatic experience and the aftermath, revealing that he and his colleagues were not allowed to change clothes or shower for hours after the shooting. Menezes had been wrongly identified as failed bomber Hussain Osman, and the botched operation remains a haunting memory for C12.
