The Syrian military is advancing to secure territories formerly controlled by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Aleppo governorate, with troops entering Deir Hafer following the SDF’s planned withdrawal east of Aleppo. SDF commander Mazloum Abdi announced the withdrawal in response to requests from allied nations and mediators, with the Syrian Ministry of Defence supporting the decision and monitoring implementation before deploying military forces. The United States has encouraged both parties to avoid confrontation and resume negotiations, aiming to establish lasting peace in Syria and prevent ISIL resurgence through diplomatic solutions.
