Two separate crashes on Perth’s highway network are causing significant traffic disruptions for motorists on Sunday afternoon. The first incident occurred on Tonkin Highway southbound at Horrie Miller Drive, near Perth Airport, where the right lane is closed, prompting heavy traffic in the area. Emergency services, including DFES Incident Response crews and police, are on-site as drivers are advised to proceed with caution, particularly those traveling to the airport. In a separate incident, another crash on Roe Highway eastbound at Tonkin Highway in Wattle Grove has blocked the left merge lane, leading to further delays. Towing services are attending to this incident as well, and motorists in both areas should anticipate delays and drive safely. Main Roads WA is providing live updates on these incidents through its Travel Map.

Why It Matters

Traffic incidents on major highways can lead to significant delays and disruptions for commuters and travelers alike. Highways like Tonkin and Roe are critical arteries in Perth’s transport network, connecting various regions and facilitating access to key locations, including Perth Airport. Such incidents can increase travel times and impact emergency response times. Historically, traffic congestion in Perth has been a growing concern, with ongoing infrastructure developments aimed at improving safety and efficiency on the roads.
