Perry the Donkey, Model for ‘Shrek,’ Dies at 30

Perry, a miniature donkey who served as a model for the character Donkey in the movie “Shrek,” passed away at 30 after battling laminitis. Known for his gentle nature, Perry lived at the Barron Park Donkey Project in California where he charmed visitors and formed a special bond with fellow donkey Jenny. Although efforts to have Perry recognized for his role in “Shrek” were unsuccessful, the community rallied around him, raising funds for his medical expenses and celebrating his life at a birthday party that garnered significant support.
