The Pentagon is deploying 350 National Guard troops to New Orleans to assist federal authorities in combating violent crime through Mardi Gras, with a focus on events like New Year’s Eve and the Sugar Bowl. Under Governor Landry’s command, the troops will enhance safety and support law enforcement efforts in the area. As of November 1, New Orleans has reported 97 murders this year, prompting Landry’s request for federal assistance. Louisiana’s National Guardsmen, well-trained from past deployments, are prepared to support their home state once again.
