Path cleared for VRX to start producing silica sand next year after WA environmental approval

Shares in VRX Silica surged 25% following WA Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn’s approval of the Arrowsmith North silica sand project, despite opposition from environmentalists. The project, which aims to clear 299 hectares for silica production starting in 2026, has a resource of 221 million tonnes and seeks to establish a long-term export industry in Western Australia’s Mid West region.
