US immigration authorities arrested Columbia University student Mohsen Mahdawi during his citizenship interview, claiming President Trump’s crackdown on immigrant student protesters violates the Constitution. Mahdawi, a legal permanent resident from the occupied West Bank, co-founded a Palestinian student group and was due to graduate soon. His detention, alongside other activists, has sparked outrage and led to a temporary restraining order preventing his deportation, with advocates demanding his immediate release.
