Retired US Army officer Peter Mansoor explains that the US and Iran are currently at a ‘stalemate’ in their relationship, particularly regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Mansoor emphasizes that the US needs to engage in direct talks with Iran to de-escalate tensions and prevent any potential conflict. He suggests that the US should consider offering concessions to Iran, such as lifting some sanctions, in exchange for cooperation in securing the Strait of Hormuz.
