Authorities say rescue operations are under way to locate survivors on a boat that sunk, with two others missing.

One body has been found and over 70 others are missing after a boat carrying approximately 90 undocumented migrants sank near the Thailand-Malaysia border. The Malaysian maritime authority reported at least 10 survivors, including three Myanmar nationals and two Rohingya refugees. The incident occurred near Tarutao Island, where migrants often attempt perilous crossings to reach Malaysia, a common destination for refugees fleeing oppression. This tragedy highlights the ongoing dangers faced by migrants in the region, where human trafficking syndicates facilitate hazardous journeys.
