A 70-year-old Toronto man, Alex Parucha, has been charged with theft and fraud after allegedly keeping a $1-million lottery prize intended for a group of buyers. Initially celebrated for his win by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), investigations revealed the ticket was part of a group arrangement, and the winnings were supposed to be shared among three individuals. Parucha has been charged with theft over $5,000, fraud over $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime, with a court appearance scheduled for January. The allegations are yet to be tested in court.
