Friday’s 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand resulted in 1,644 deaths in Myanmar and 18 in Bangkok, with thousands injured and missing in both countries. The earthquake caused significant destruction in Myanmar, particularly in Mandalay, where critical infrastructure like the Ava Bridge and Mandalay University were destroyed. The Red Cross has launched an emergency appeal for $113.3 million to aid those affected in the region.
