Mayor Eric Adams announced the impending closure of the Roosevelt Hotel migrant shelter in Manhattan, citing successful strategies and decreased asylum seekers since President Trump’s term. The shelter, expected to close by June, saw a significant drop in arrivals, down to 350 migrants weekly from a peak of 4,000. With fewer migrants in city care, additional shelter sites will be available as part of the plan to shutter 53 sites by June and address the ongoing migrant crisis in New York City.
