The U.S. has sanctioned six individuals and two companies for allegedly facilitating a scheme that uses remote IT workers to defraud businesses and fund North Korea’s weapons programs. The Treasury Department identified networks that helped North Korean operatives impersonate legitimate IT specialists, generating nearly $800 million in 2024. Among those sanctioned are Amnokgang Technology Development Company and Quangvietdnbg International Services in Vietnam. These actions aim to curb North Korea’s cyber operations tied to its nuclear ambitions.
