North Korea and Russia Strengthen Ties with New Bridge Construction
North Korea and Russia have initiated the construction of their first road bridge across the Tumen River, a significant milestone in their bilateral relations, following North Korea’s military support for Russia in its war against Ukraine. The two-lane bridge, which will be over half a mile long, aims to enhance passenger and commercial traffic and is expected to take 18 months to complete. Since 2023, North Korea has supplied artillery and troops to Russia, while receiving military equipment in return, marking a revival of their partnership that had waned since the Cold War.
