US Treasury accuses Pyongyang of stealing $3bn in digital assets to finance its nuclear weapons programme over three years.

The US Treasury has accused North Korea of stealing over $3 billion in digital assets to fund its nuclear weapons program, leading to sanctions against eight individuals and two firms. North Korea’s vice foreign minister condemned the sanctions as evidence of US hostility and promised countermeasures. Despite the sanctions, President Trump remains interested in reviving talks with Kim Jong Un, who has focused on strengthening ties with Russia and rejected US demands for nuclear disarmament.
