No derelict site levy issued in 10 local authority areas – The Irish Times

Ten local authorities, including Cavan, Clare, Donegal, and Fingal, have never imposed a derelict sites levy on owners in their areas, despite being allowed to do so since 2020. Limerick City and County Council stands out for its proactive approach, with 412 properties on its Derelict Sites Register and over €245,000 levied and collected in 2023. Overall, there are significant disparities among local authorities in addressing dereliction, with more than a fifth of all properties on the State’s Derelict Sites Register located in Co Limerick.
