Nigerian government frees 100 abducted schoolchildren

Nigeria’s government has secured the release of 100 schoolchildren abducted from a Catholic boarding school, with 203 children and 12 teachers originally kidnapped. Some children escaped earlier, but the whereabouts of the rest were unknown until now. The Nigerian government has not commented on the release, which comes amidst increasing scrutiny of the country’s security situation following mass kidnappings by extremist groups.
