Kano, Nigeria, has launched a unique initiative to combat a surge in phone snatching by training 380 volunteers as unarmed “Phone Snatching Marshals” to assist local law enforcement. While the marshals aim to improve public safety, concerns arise over their ability to handle violent confrontations, given their brief two-week training and the increasing boldness of thieves.
