Attorney Withdraws, Asserts Nick Reiner’s Innocence in Murder Case

The attorney for Nick Reiner, accused of murdering his parents, unexpectedly withdrew from the case during his arraignment, asserting Reiner is not guilty of murder under California law. Reiner, 32, faces two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner on December 14. The L.A. County Public Defender’s Office will now represent him, and his arraignment is rescheduled for February 23. If convicted, he could face life imprisonment or the death penalty.
