Nick Clegg on Artist Consent and AI Regulation

Nick Clegg, former UK deputy prime minister and Meta executive, warned that requiring artist consent for AI training would severely harm the AI industry in the UK. Speaking at a book promotion event, he acknowledged the creative community’s desire to opt out of having their work used but argued that asking for permission before using vast amounts of data is impractical. Clegg emphasized that if the UK implemented such regulations while other countries did not, it would effectively jeopardize the growth of the AI sector in Britain.
