The Green Party released a tax plan this week proposing over $88 billion in new taxes, which aims to lower the income tax burden for many low-income workers but would increase it for others, including nurses. This plan is controversial as it would reduce the after-tax income of the average registered nurse, coinciding with Labour’s ads criticizing the government for cutting nurse pay through pay equity reforms. Despite Labour’s hesitance to fully endorse or reject the Greens’ tax proposals, it is unlikely they will implement such significant tax hikes during their partnership.
