A newly elected councillor in Haydock, St Helens, has come under scrutiny after it was revealed he starred in numerous gay adult films under the pseudonym ‘Lachlan Taylor UK.’ Stephen Mousdell, who represents the Reform party, was elected despite an investigation uncovering footage of him apparently engaging in public sexual acts. While no criminal activity is alleged, such acts could be deemed as ‘Outraging Public Decency’ under Common Law. Mousdell’s OnlyFans page labels him as a ‘gay pornstar and DJ,’ and he has been open about his preferences for various types of partners on social media. Reform defended Mousdell, stating that his private life choices are not illegal and were known to the electorate prior to the election. The party has faced criticism recently, with other members accused of making racist remarks and failing to adhere to party standards.
Why It Matters
The situation surrounding Stephen Mousdell highlights ongoing tensions within the Reform party, particularly as it gains new representation in local governments. The party has faced increasing scrutiny from the public and media for the actions and statements of its elected officials. In recent elections, several Reform councillors have been implicated in controversies, including racist remarks and failing to declare unacceptable social media content. These incidents could impact public perception and trust in the party as it navigates its position within local and national politics.
