New York City destroys more than 3,500 seize illegal firearms

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch recently celebrated the destruction of 3,375 illegal handguns and 200 rifles, a small part of over 21,400 firearms seized since Adams took office. The weapons were shredded and recycled, with the material to be used for a memorial honoring gun violence victims. Adams emphasized ongoing efforts to combat gun violence, including the recovery of ghost guns, and highlighted initiatives aimed at enhancing community safety and reducing firearm-related incidents.
