Medha Patkar arrested in defamation case after Delhi court issues non-bailable warrant

Medha Patkar, a social activist, was arrested by Delhi Police in connection with a defamation case from 2001, initiated by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. A Delhi court had issued a non-bailable warrant, stating Patkar was deliberately ignoring orders to submit probation bonds and pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh, and deemed her request for adjournment as frivolous. The court warned that failure to comply with its orders could lead to a reconsideration of her lenient sentence.
