New rescue vessels deployed for marine rescue operations

Four new advanced marine rescue vessels have been launched to enhance lifesaving efforts at sea, equipped with modern search and rescue technologies such as night vision and improved radio communications. The $5.5 million investment from the Cook Government supports volunteer organizations in Cockburn, Mandurah, Whitfords, and Fremantle. The naming ceremony for one vessel, Rita G, honored Sister Rita Augustine Goodchild, a survivor of a tragic boating accident in 1959 that led to the formation of Marine Rescue Mandurah.
