The University of New Mexico is investigating an incident involving two members of the men’s basketball team in which a walk-on player was allegedly punched by a scholarship player on a flight to Palm Springs, stemming from a disagreement over seating. The family of the alleged victim claimed the player was punched in the same injured shoulder he had in a sling and was later treated at a hospital. The university is conducting an investigation and head coach Richard Pitino stated that disciplinary matters are being handled internally.
