New Freenet Network Launches with River Group Chat Feature

Freenet, the peer-to-peer platform for anonymous communication launched in 2000 by Ian Clarke, has unveiled a new generation of its network. This redesign focuses on real-time decentralized applications, enabling functionalities such as messaging and social networking via WebAssembly-based contracts. The first application on the new network is River, a decentralized group chat system. Freenet 2023 aims to provide a seamless user experience similar to the traditional web.
